A Creative Shift and a Breath of Spring

Hi there!

Spring is finally here — my favorite season of all. 🌸
There’s something about the light, the colors, and the fresh air that makes me want to create, plan, and do a thousand things at once. It always fills me with inspiration and new energy. ✨
Whenever I can, I sneak outside to read in the garden. Lately, I’ve been reading The Artist’s Guide to Sketching and I’m really enjoying it.

I bought it as a little incentive to push myself out of my comfort zone and start sketching from life, outdoors. It’s a great exercise to develop awareness of space, perspective, depth, composition, and to sharpen observation skills in general. I usually work tucked away in the safety of my studio, and I’ve realized I might be missing out on a more spontaneous way of creating. I find it very difficult to sketch outdoors, especially in public or when other people are around. But I’d like to work on that, one small step at a time.
Since I live surrounded by nature, I could start simply by heading into the woods behind my house and drawing what I see. That sounds like a gentle and quiet way to begin. Do you ever draw outdoors? I’d love to know if it’s part of your routine. And if you have any tips, I’m all ears.

Also, while I was out reading the other day, I spotted this adorable little cat hiding among the trees.

I gave him a few kibbles and, even though he looked a bit suspicious at first, he ended up eating them. My own cat, on the other hand, watched the whole thing from a distance with the classic “excuse me?” face! 😾

Recent Artwork

In the past few weeks I’ve completed a few new illustrations, each made using different tools and materials. Here’s a little gallery of what I’ve been working on lately:

New Videos

I’ve also shared a few new videos. In one of them, I went back to using colored pencils, which is a medium I hadn’t touched in ages. It felt a little nostalgic, since colored pencils were the medium I first started with at the beginning of my art journey. Here’s what’s new on my channel:

Inspiration

Not long ago I took a little trip to the Galleria Nazionale in Rome. I had never been there before, and it was such a beautiful experience to see in person many of the paintings I had only studied in books.
Observing the texture and brushwork up close really changed the way I see those works. I especially loved seeing pieces by Van Gogh and De Chirico. The visit definitely gave me a renewed spark of inspiration.

Shop Update

There are new prints available in my shop, and I’ve also restocked a few of the most requested items.
I’ve added a small preview below. If you’re curious to see what’s new or if you had your eye on something that sold out, now’s a good time to take a look!

Freebies for you!

This month I’ve prepared two lineart scans for you, along with their colored versions. You’re welcome to use them for your own coloring practice, either digitally or traditionally. And if you decide to share your results online, don’t forget to tag me. I’d love to see what you create.

Thanks so much for reading!

Your support means the world to me, and I’m always grateful to have this space where I can share a little more behind the scenes. I hope this season brings you calm, inspiration, and the time to enjoy doing what you love!

¡aunque no me rindo!
